Quality of Life Assessment

Everyone wants their pets to be as happy and as healthy as possible. As they near the end of their lives, or if they’re diagnosed with a long-term or terminal illness, knowing if you’re still doing everything you can to keep them happy can become difficult. Caring for elderly or unwell pets can be confusing. You may be left wondering whether they are still experiencing a good quality of life and, if not, whether there is anything you can do to help them or whether euthanasia is the kindest option.

At Supernova Vets we have firsthand experience of managing elderly and terminally unwell patients both in a veterinary capacity and as owners. Supernova Vets was born from our experience of managing our beloved cat when she received a terminal diagnosis and when she eventually had to be put to sleep at home (you can read more about our story here).

We offer quality of life assessments to help you to understand what can be done to keep your furry family member content for as long as possible. We can also help you to decide if it’s time to say goodbye.

The tools we used as owners are the ones we share with the families we support. We use a variety of questionnaires and trackers to suit each individual family’s needs.

We primarily conduct these assessments remotely, however in-person quality of life assessments may be possible on request. The cost of a 40 minute remote consultation is £50.
